Surrounded by high
cliffs,Southerndown or Dunraven Bay, as it's officially known,
is predominantly a beach break with reef on the right-hand side.
This beach has been known to provide some tasty waves, especially
in North Easterly winds.
The water is a weird brown colour - so keep your mouth closed
when duckdiving!
Handles waves up to around six feet and can be deceptively heavy.
The tide comes in very quickly here so make sure you give yourself
time to exit.
Best surfed low/mid tide but not at high on a big swell or you'll
get hammered by the shorebreak and it hurts! |
